Dangiya

The road to Dantiwada Agriculture University diverts from Chandisar on Palanpur Deesa highway. There comes a signboard of Dangiya village on the road to Dantiwada. It is a non-traditional signboard displaying some useful data of the village Dangiya. There are beautiful trees around there on both the road-sides creating pleasant atmosphere. That is the creation of one Jatubhai (Mohammad Ibrahimkhan Sindhi), a former Sarpanch of the village and noble leader.
He used to be in contact of Lokniketan institution and slowly he began to like the system of educating the pupils with love. He gradually began to cherish a dream in his heart to have such a school in his village. Inspired by such spirit he put his demand before us to start a school in his village. Our love and good feeling towards Jatubhai is at the foundation of this school. |

The school in which there were 3 girls in the first year, has, even after 18 years of long period, still only 3 girls. This speaks volumes of the social rigidity about the girls' education. But the new generation studying in the school will not be thus tied up in the conservatism. This is suggested from the S.S.C. Examination result which was 39% in 1985 has risen to 82.9% in the year 2000. Social change is always slow, but its movement is perceptible, it will certainly transform the society. The girls might be very much less in number even now, but the village people have given good co-operation in the school work. They gave land for the school. A fine building is standing there now. There is a bore-well nearby and a good farm has developed beside the school.
Gradually this centre is becoming a hub of activities like prohibition, people's awareness and improvement farming etc. Every good work meant to achieve progress seems impossible initially, but proper and concentrated efforts make it possible.
