Our two post basic schools of Ratanpur and Virampur had created a positive impact in the people. In the taluka there v/ere certain villages where the people wanted such a school but they or the village leaders were not able to start it on their own. One such village was Malana, 11 kins. away from Palanpur situated a little inside of the Palanpur-Abu highway. The people of that village had such a demand. There was no facility of secondary education in Malana and about fifteen surrounding villages. So only a few could go to Palanpur for secondary education. In such circumstances, in order to prepare useful citizens of the society by imparting the pupils post basic education, we started a post basic school there on 8-7-1980 and tried to fulfil a felt need of the area.

The Vidyalaya was started in a rented house in the village, and during the next two years, tlie school building was constructed, as usual, with the financial assistance from District Planning Committee and Hari Om Ashram, Nadiad. The school was shifted there for good. The school was started with 36 boys and 5 girls in Std. VIII. Now, it has 114 boys and 5 girls after two decades, i.e. in 2000-2001. The school campus looks beautiful on account of a number of trees grown there.

There were 5 girls in the school in its very first year. Even after twenty years this number is unchanged. This very fact throws enough light on the conservatism of the people regarding girls' education. There is a total staff of five teachers and two non-teaching persons. The result of the S.S.C. Examination of this school remains low and our efforts are on to improve the teaching standard.
