Mithi Paldi
From www.lokniketan.org
On the border of Tharad and Deodar talukas, the village Mithi Paldi is somewhat a larger village compared to other villages in the area. The area is made up of sandy soil but there is good potable water underground. So the people have developed good farming. Still, they are equally backward in education, hence superstitions, blind faith, ignorance, bad social customs etc. were abounding. There was no secondary school anywhere nearby this village. So the children had to go either to Tharad, Deodar or Bhabhar, all places very far away. Hence the village leaders wished there should be secondary school in the village. Some of the village leaders Shri Hathisinh Vaghela, Shri Rajaji Vaghela, Shri Madevbhai Suthar, Shri Navaji Patel, Shri Badarmal Doshi and Shri Kanaji Vaghela came to see me at Ratanpur with that purpose. They had brought with them a resolution of the Panchayat to allot land to start a school in the village. |

Most of Banaskantha district is a backward and undeveloped area. As such, it was our desire to have at least one vidyalaya in each taluka. If that could be done, it would be possible, at long last, to work in the district according to the objectives of Lokniketan Trust. So thinking, I accepted the request of the village leaders of Paldi. They were very pleased on my decision and we opened a post basic school at Paldi on 1-7-1980.
Along with the Vidyalaya, a chhatralaya was also started for die children belonging to the Baxi Commission listed castes. There is a big population of the Thakor community in this area and the chhatralaya was very helpful for the education of the children of that community. They got staying accommodation there.
The school was started in a rented house in the beginning, and later on the school complex was built with the financial assistance from District Planning Committee and Hari Om Ashram of Nadiad.
There were 30 boys and 3 girls in Std. VIII when the school was started, which increased to 176 boys and 18 girls in the year 2000. Totally 194 pupils get education there.
Along with die education of the pupils, activities to create awareness and social transformation also are being carried on by the school.
